Letter People
When I was in kindergarten my teacher, Mrs. Sprott, helped her students learn their ABC's & 123's by introducing to them to the "Letter People" and the "Number Workers." They made such an impression on me that when I started our church nursery at the small country church we were going to in Holland, TX I incorporated them into the curriculum. I found a CD with the "Letter People" online. It had three different versions of them on it. Needless to say, the parents and children loved it---and so did I!! I also love sharing fun learning tools like the "Letter People" I had growing up.

Dreams to Reality
Growing up I always knew three things I wanted to do with my life: work with children, help people by showing Christ's love, and write. Thank that in various ways I have been able to do all three, through work, church, and now my blog. However, now that I have my blog, I would love to have the opportunity to do all three at one time. Therefore, I am going to narrow my blog down just a bit and discuss fun things that you can do with kids a a parent and caregiver in a loving Christian environment. Some of these things may be just some old fashioned kids games and activities from back in the day that you and/or your parents might remember and others will be some fun, Biblically based crafts & games they can do along with Bible stories. Hope you enjoy the new "twist" to my blog!

Sunday School
My definition of Sunday School is a 1 hour class held once a week, devoted to teaching certain age groups about Christ. You might be wondering where Sunday School got its start. Well, in 1780 England, a man by the name of Robert Raikes became convinced by his work with prison inmates that an early religious teaching for children would keep them from a life of crime. Schools were then conducted on the day of the week that children did not work, Sunday. Today, each teacher has the responsibility of making the lesson for the week fit the age group they are teaching, and to get the message in the lesson across to their students accordingly. I myself enjoy teaching those under the age of 10 because I can give them fun crafts or activities to go with their lesson if I choose. (I am also still a child at heart.)

Temptation
In Luke 4:1-13 is the temptation of Jesus himself by the ultimate tempter Satan. Where Jesus, in His human form, is tempted in the three most powerful ways He probably could have been tempted. All three times we see that He did not give in to those temptations. Since we are to be more like Him shouldn't we avoid temptation at all costs when it crosses our paths just as He did. My challenge for you today is to strive to be more like Christ and to avoid temptation in your daily walk.

Wishing
What makes the difference between wishing and realizing our wishes? Lots of things, and it may take months or years for a wish to come true, but it is far more likely to happen when you care so much about a wish that you will do all you can to make it happen. --- Rev. Fred Rogers
That Quote has meant a lot to me over the years especially over the last few months and now with this blog, one of my wishes has been able to come true, the reality of writing every day to where people can see it. Also through God's grace another wish of mine has come true. I have been selected to minister to children at a local church in the town where I live. I hope one day your wishes come true as mine have.

New Life
What do you think of when you hear the phrase "new life?" Do you think of a new job, new home in a new land, or forming a completely new identity like those who enter the witness protection program? All of those are possible situations for starting a new life. However, that is not what God meant when he told us in Romans 6:4 "We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may life a new life." He meant, that we as believers in Him ask Jesus into our hearts, confess our sins, be baptized, and then change our ways and try to be as much like Him and His son Jesus as possible. How do you do that you ask? You go to a church of your preference, start spending time with other Christians, and reading your Bible. I hope you all enjoy your "new life" as much as I have.

Prayer
What is prayer? Prayer is our way of communicating with God. Many people see prayer as a "last resort." We as Christians know that prayer should not be treated that way. It is another way of showing God that we care about him, others, and ourselves. You don't have to pray just about things you want or need, you can pray just to talk to God and tell him how your day was. God doesn't care how you talk to him, or what you talk about, he only cares that you talk to him, and that you listen.
